Foster Family Inspired by “Page-Bailie Bunch”

August 10, 20090 Likes

Melisa Page-Bailie may have personally helped hundreds of children in her foster care ministry, but now she and her wonderful adopted foster care family is inspiring families all over the world.  Building a Differencehas received phone calls, emails and letters sharing how the “Page-Bailie Bunch” documentary has encouraged foster families when times seemed tough.

One foster mother in particular, Nadene from East Orange, New Jersey, had called to tell us how much the show had helped her and her ministry. After showing her foster kids the “Page-Bailie Bunch” DVD, 11-year old Gina was inspired to handwrite us a letter, and even drew us a picture, about her wonderful family. She would have sent it to us sooner but she said that she “had to check my spelling and punctuation.”

Foster FamilyGina is the oldest and therefore helps her foster mother with her “6 siblings, and 3 cats and 2 dogs.” Just like Trisha in the Page-Bailie Bunch, she also had an older sister who passed away. She wrote, “my mom and us kids took care of Bernie at home. My mom held Bernie’s hand when she went to Jesus.”

According to Gina, her mother Nadene “loves every single one of us the same.  Her favorites are the dogs Jubille and Humble-guy.  The cats names are Camille, Moses and Splender.”

Nadene and her 7 foster children live in a very small home with one bathroom, and according to Gina , “we are always in a hurry to get done (in the bathroom), if you know what I mean!? My mom is trying to make a group home for teens in memory of my sister, and a home for elders.  She is also trying to build a daycare. She says we have to learn how to help each other because it makes the world better….We are praying to God for a miracle.”

Gina, thank you so much for writing to us at Building a Difference! As documentarians, we have seen some of the most incredible people rise up out of nowhere to help those in desperate need. We will be in prayer with you that your family receives the blessings needed to continue its good work…and then maybe one day we might be able to tell your story as well!

In the meantime, your mother clearly has a wonderful heart and love for helping people, and we hope that you will want to become just like her!

Here is a clip from the page-Bailie Bunch episodes – “Melisa’s Ministry.”
